My college's alumnae association (alumn-AE, you guys, alumn-AE!) just sent mass email wondering if our New Year's Resolutions were to quit smoking or lose weight (or perhaps reconnect with old friends?).  And also to inform us that the Philadelphia, Boston, and San Diego alumnae clubs were holding a wine tasting, wine and cheese party, and art gallery docent tour, respectively.

How the hell I managed to graduate from this school, I don't know.

Also fuckin' everything is not cutting my way today.  I even took the WRONG CELLPHONE to work.  I need a reset button.  Fuck this.

Also, another Nazi reference was found last night.  This time comparing the Dome to Auschwitz.  Oh yes--we went there.

Title from a comment in Kissing Suzy Kolber, of course.

I read the Wiki entry on it and it sounds like an episode of Gilmore Girls with Taylor going completely evil and Luke being the last hope for humanity.

Not that I watch Gilmore Girls...

Anyway, I haven't been able to stomach much of SK's work. "On Writing" was good, but everything else seems to be pretty much the same thing over and over again.

Like the lady says, "Some books are not meant to be put down lightly. They should be thrown, with great force." Let's see, a Gilmore Girls and Dorothy Parker reference in the same post. Have I got a shred of masculinity left? ;)

Nope, you don't. :)

I don't know who those people are because I really strive to avoid Gilmore Girls. I think I'm just going to see who lives and dies. That's interesting about not being able to stomach King. I have not read "On Writing," but as I told asakiyume, I'll preach the virtues of The Shining and Pet Sematary any day. Granted, I've seen more of his work put into movie/miniseries form than read them. And I think sometimes that helps.

Sorry, I ought to clarify. I like his earlier work. The Shining was kickass. Also, I love the Dark Tower books all the way up to Wizard and Glass. But not much else from Bag of Bones onward.

Oh, good - me too. I tend to agree with the people that say he was better pre-accident, and even pre-sobriety... sad as that is. I wonder if that's because he doesn't write what I'd call horror anymore, though.

I'm laughing thinking of the you that I know--admittedly, only through LJ and your short stories but--going to a wine-and-cheese party and gabbing about how your diet is going. You can follow up with remarks on your fingernail polish, I'm sure.

I mean seriously, it's making me laugh :D

LOL! Well, yeah, I laugh too. Although hey, I do like fingernail polish. If you changed that to remarks on my French manicure, that might be more accurate. :)
