Nebraska 27, Missouri 12. At the end of the third quarter, it was Nebraska 0, Missouri 12. Yes, 20 points in about 3 minutes, then another 7 in the last minute to top it off. It ain't over till it's over, bitches!
So can we call it a truce, Mizzou? Some of you fans seem to be ok (I'm still undecided on the players...). We can join you hating on Kansas, and you can stop accusing our players of spitting on your players/ throwing beer cans on our players/ etc.?
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming: I've been out with a killer cold (NOT swine flu!) this week and actually took 2 days off work. I hope to start submitting again this weekend though! Other than that I've been studying for the GRE and trying to break up with a guy (see title, again). That's going... sloppily. Hopefully progress will be made on all fronts over the weekend. Play all four quarters, baby.

And good luck w/the GRE stuff too. What kind of grad program are you looking at?

Date: 2009-10-09 04:03 pm (UTC)Yeah. I'm just bad at actually saying the words, and then it ends up in this ambivalent mess. I need to get a backbone and just deal with it, but I don't like disappointing/hurting people, I mean, it's happened to me.
Thanks! I'm looking at a program that will basically give me an M.A. in International Relations. Something theory-based and not too managerial. Not to jinx myself, but something like Fletcher at Tufts or Yale would be my dream program.

Date: 2009-10-10 05:24 am (UTC)and who is this guy? why are you breaking up with him? and yeah, the only thing i worry about is making sure there aren't awkward car rides afterward. i figure it's best to get it over with.

Date: 2009-10-10 03:18 pm (UTC)He's a student at UNL. Um, I just don't like him enough. It's been like two months and I'm just bored. I think I'm going to do it over the phone. I definitely don't want to do it at the end of a date, precisely because of the awkward car ride. Do you have a better suggestion?

Date: 2009-10-10 04:10 pm (UTC)Oh, how old is he? What does he do? I will stop w/ questions... Anyway, yeah, bored = not good. I never break up over the phone if I can help it, and/or if the relationship was at all serious. It's really inconsiderate. I just try to be the one driving, or do it at the end of the car ride, or whatever.

Date: 2009-10-10 04:34 pm (UTC)Um, 28 or so. He was in the military before, now he's an archeology student. Ah, damn, is it that bad? Fuck. I mean, I don't think the relationship was serious. I don't know what he thinks.

Date: 2009-10-10 10:53 pm (UTC)oh, wow. that's cool, i guess. anyway, yeah, phone break-ups are generally bad, but if it's casual dating i guess it's not as big a deal. but it's something i definitely put a taboo on, like lying or cheating. less personally, it's just one of those things, like 'people deserve to hear it to their face,' and some people get really upset about being treated like they aren't worth that.

Date: 2009-10-10 11:03 pm (UTC)Yes, well, turns out people are not as cool as their resumes :P Seriously though, I had high hopes in the beginning. 'Nyway - it's better than text messaging or email, right? I'm just not sure how I'd do it in person. Like, at the end of a two hour dinner, that seems a little awkward. Even more awkward to do it at the beginning.

Date: 2009-10-11 12:45 am (UTC)better, i guess. it will always be awkward. there is no 'nice and friendly' way to break up with someone, and that's how it should be. i would still do it in person.

Date: 2009-10-11 01:38 am (UTC)i guess i'd say: i'd only break up with someone on the phone if i felt it was the right thing to do, not b/c i wanted an easy way out.
