OCEAN'S THIRTEEN:  In The Lost World, Vince Vaughn's character says of his career trajectory, "Well, noble was last year.  This year I'm getting paid."  Ocean's thirteen seem to take the opposite mentality - last year I was getting paid, this year I'm getting into heaven.  Because in the wrap-up final movie of the trilogy, they aren't at all interested in material gains.  They even decide early on that a better means to their end is material losses - of their enemy, that is. 

The enemy in this case is Bank, who's shrifted Reuben of half his dues for the creation of a huge, obnoxious monstrosity of a hotel-casino, and caused a heart attack and a profound depression.  To bring Reuben's health back, his crooks decide to break Bank on opening night.  Not really any heist here - well, except for one begrudging exception - just a lot of fraud.  It reminded me a lot of Robin Hood.  Perpetually in this movie the gang is seen giving money to others, to those who help them or unknowingly help them, and those people tend to be those lower down on the social strata than themselves.  There's even a brief political-inspired spiel about how poorly the workers in Mexico get paid.  There's a lot of impersonation - and except for one laudable exception, all of these impersonations come closer and closer to the nauseating truth of Vegas than the suave suits and stylish haircuts the motley crew is known for. 

The cleverness remains, though everything has become so glamorous as to be grotesque in the world of the high-rolling, and this movie seems to imply that the people who will eventually win big in life, whether by heist or by karma, are the ones the high-rollers stick their nose up at. - Recommended.
