I love how when I find one - and I mean one - anime that looks good to me, I don't know what it's called. I was trying to find that old favorite of mine, "Out Comes the Evil" by Lords of Acid, on YouTube and stumbled upon it. The heroine, whoever she is, looks like one I could actually like. Mainly because she is, as Kim says, "a non-slutty schoolgirl", and she cuts people (demons) up, with lots of splatter gore. The demons also have an interesting look, almost dinosaur-like.

It also has what I hope is the future of anime animation - the more realistic, almost Americanized faces, a very careful use of darkness, shadow, color, and "texture", action that looks almost computerized and yet very fast and fluid, and an overall very urban-dystopia look. Ergo Proxy, an anime we've only seen in [community profile] film_stills, appears to have this as well. Predecessors to it include Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (probably my favorite anime movie, to be honest).

I've changed userpics again.  I'm also changing my title policy on using song lyrics.  I like change, what can I say.  I don't really know what my horoscope is talking about when it says Leos are fixed signs.  From now on titles will be... whatever I want them to be.

the following lyrics to "I Am" by Nelly Furtado:
if you see me walking by
you don't have to spend your time
asking me if I'm alright
do I look smarter? do I look stronger?
does it make you wonder?
well, I am.
It's a good song.

That picture of Fiona Apple is just so good and so fitting for my layout that it's my default pic that's staying at the top of my screen forever, but won't be used for individual posts.  The posts will have Radiohead artwork instead.  And yes, it is extremely depressing and disturbing.  Some of the Kid A stuff looks like it was drawn by someone who saw many, many demons.  It's a new attempt at the lj userpic.  Radiohead encompasses a lot of me that many userpics of people's faces do not.  I think I'm becoming very, very into the whole poli sci thing, that's all.

Who knows if we'll stick to this.  Stay tuned.  The revolution will be televised.

This is "Running Up That Hill", the Placebo cover of the Kate Bush song. There's a lot of interpretations for what this song means, which is apropos given that there are many couples in Ilium with a variety of problems and situations. I think the factor that binds them is that they're the new generation of Ilium, a generation that's completely angst-filled because the rules of their parents and elders are starting to contradict themselves and crumble. The most fitting line in this song is "tell me we both matter, don't we".

it doesn't hurt me
you wanna feel how it feels
you wanna know, know that it doesn't hurt me
you wanna hear about the deal I'm making
you and me
if I only could make a deal with God and get him to swap our places
be running up that road, be running up that hill, be running up that building
if I only could...

you don't wanna hurt me
but see how deep the bullet lies
unaware that I'm tearing you asunder
and there's thunder in our hearts, baby
so much hate for the ones we love
tell me we both matter, don't we

plus it's also a beautiful, beautiful song that gives me the heebie jeebies. It may not make a huge impression from the lyrics - it needs to be listened to. Here's an X-Files AMV by xandrazandar, a one-sided Skinner/Scully pairing - as in Skinner-loves-Scully-from-afar. Not all the clips will make sense if you don't know the X-Files, but if you do, you may be convinced of this. I was.  Oddly enough, this message and video could also be applied to Jackson and Nike in Musings of a Young World (Jackson, who works with Rod at the FBI, is in love with Nike, but never tells her or Rod - instead he just watches their relationship progress, watches them separate and helps them reconcile - and then dies).
