I am all kinds of crazy in love with the song "Hunted by a Freak" by Mogwai. Such that if I ever publish a short-story collection, I want that to be the title.

The incredibly depressing video - the best interpretation of it seems to be that the man dropping animals is God, and the fall of the animals is our life, "good to the last drop, doesn't get any better than this", so to speak.  That's sort of my perspective on God, when I'm in the moods where I believe there is a God.  I've always thought that if God's real, God's a bastard.  Ironically, reading Memnoch (Anne Rice's attempt to convert her readers to Christianity) actually convinced me of this even more.  I think I believe in "the blind idiot god Azathoth, Lord of All Things", "who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space" more than I believe in some sweet-cheeked Jesus.

sad video. and weird interpretation. i could never really get into Mogwai, that song is probably one of the few i like.

i could probably never believe in any sort of anthropmorphic god.

I remember failing to get into Mogwai a couple years ago, but I really, really like this song and a few others.

What kind of god, then?

corrected comment...

And you say you're the cynical one!

I love "Planet Telex" though. It's like... damn.

Maybe it would be better to say I have high expectations?
I was looking at the other videos of a guy steve2 posted a video from. I really relate to this one about a dead relationship (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqnKbdqjh2I). I feel like that's what most marriages amount to, and I'm not sure I could ever have a relationship that doesn't end up like this. the one steve2 posted was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoN6XfyQsr4 which was kinda cool. He sometimes defies my stereotypes of evangelical Christians.

haha, yeah, it's a good song.

Yeah, I learned long ago not to have high expectations.

I like the dead relationship one too. I think the idea of "growing up separately" is huge. Which makes me wonder if my parents just stopped growing or grew together or... if the split would have come later.

I don't think Planet Telex gets enough love.
