Yep, I found it strange when I read the book JP - but I think Spielberg made the right call on that one. I thought Book Lex was sort of a non-entity. And I liked that in the movie, both kids were essentially smart nerds about different things.
I never thought about a long-lost daughter, but yeah, that would have made for a more interesting evolution.
