Thoughts on Battlestar Galactica:
- Now this is BSG! Exciting, stomach-twisting, violent. Very, very tense. I love that Lee walked around for most of the episode spattered with blood - exactly how I like my BSG.
- That Starbuck and Tigh brought it today is no surprise. That Adama, Lee, and Roslin (!) brought it surprised me. Pleasantly surprised me. I hope that wasn't the last we saw of Tigh, but somehow I won't be surprised if it is. I think Adama won the badass award of this episode, to be honest - from the Marines coming into CIC onward. He was just fuckin' great. I could feel his love for the ship.
- Poor Cylons (and Helo)! I've always been a Cylon sympathizer, so that was awful for me. And I wish they would stop spewing rape threats at Sharon, for the love of God, although this did make contextual sense. If anybody in the Brig dies I will be really, really upset. Well, mainly just Sharon and Helo and Hera. But Six has been through too much. And I have nothing against Sam.
- Baltar: "this is madness!" THIS... IS... GALACTICA! In all seriousness, Baltar was as good as ever with his big cracked out puppy dog eyes and his, "I really, really don't wan't to leave you (but I really just want to get the frak out of this hellhole)."
- Roslin: "Frakking Zarek. I always knew he had dangerous ideas." That line was really amusing to me, as a poli sci major. It's like The Quiet American.
- Oh, Gaeta. I don't hate him (or any of the other mutineers), because I do get his reasoning: they've been fighting the Cylons for years, they've lost people doing it, and now they're expected to cooperate with the enemy? That's a very realistic and understandable motivation for rebellion. I'm definitely not on their side (and I find it very convenient that everybody I like is now on the same side!), and I hope they don't succeed, but kudos to the writers for making this whole thing realistic. And the fact that Gaeta really couldn't command when it came down to it is sadly telling of revolutions in general. Zarek, on the other hand... I am not sympathetic to.
