pj harvey: the glorious land
Mar. 18th, 2011 12:07 amI need to get this new PJ Harvey, Let England Shake. I actually have Niall Harrison to thank for looking up this song in particular, because he said on Adam Roberts' blog that it was "quite creepy." I love it though. It's almost Death in June-like. The first lyrics I caught (on the iTunes sample) were "How is our glorious country sown? Not with wheat and corn," and I was like, thank you!
How is our glorious country plowed?
Not by iron plows
Our lands is plowed by tanks and feet,
Feet marching
Oh, America!
Oh, England!
How is our glorious country sown?
Not with wheat and corn.
How is our glorious land bestowed?
What is the glorious fruit of our land?
Its fruit is deformed children.
What is the glorious fruit of our land?
Its fruit is orphaned children.
