Oh, yeah, he's definitely scarier in the Japanese version. But I'm used to laughing at him more than being scared of him, esp. because of his appearance, and maybe also because that defuses some of the extreme-killing-ness of his personality. You may be right, however, regarding the formality and femininity.
I think Vegeta sounds too cool in the Japanese version. Like a bad-ass anti-hero. Which of course he is, but he already knows that. I kove how skeezy he sounds in the English version, almost like a little gremlin (before the voice change in the later sagas, where he starts sounding too cool again because he's with the good guys and the fangirls, they luv him).
